Welcome to the 1st International Symposium on GeoAI Data and the 1st International Workshop of Natural Hazard Prediction using Big Data and Machine Learning! It is with great pleasure that I, as the Director of the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP), extend to you the warmest welcome to this momentous event, here in the historic and vibrant city of Bangkok.

I am very excited that I can be a witness for setting the stage for a groundbreaking exploration into the role of AI and machine learning in the field of geosciences.
The GeoAI Data Society, our partner in this endeavor, is an organization dedicated to fostering a culture of sharing AI data to drive advancements in science and technology. Since its establishment on 2021, the Society has aimed to address the critical need for AI data in the realms of geoscience, global environment, and geoengineering. The GeoAI Data Society operates with the noble purpose of contributing to the 4th industrial revolution by harnessing the power of AI data in geoscience. 

In collaboration with the GeoAI Data Society of Geology, we are proud to host the “1st International Workshop of Natural Hazard Prediction using Big Data and Machine Learning".  This workshop underscores our commitment to harnessing the transformative power of AI and ML for the prediction and prevention of geohazards. As the frequency and impact of natural disasters continue to rise, it has never been more critical to leverage big data and machine learning to enhance our resilience and readiness.
